The United Nations UN was formed in 1945 following the second world war. It was formed to maintain international peace, promote social progress, better living standards and human rights. Yet when we look at our world today can it honestly be said that much has been achieved.
For a better world, there needs to be a greater effort to get nations to start behaving in a more unified way as opposed to pursuing their own self-interests. In order to have a better world, a more unified one the UN has got play a better role than it does within its current state of existence. Through our history, our world has been ravaged by war and conflict. We establish programmes to build war-torn areas only for these to be destroyed. This is a waste of energy and resources Perhaps we need to start working towards a better way to resolve the issue of dispute between countries or groups.
